A Unix Technician opportunity for an award-winning Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Bedfordshire, who is offering a range of hosted and cloud solutions to the retail and financial sectors.

 

About the Unix Technician role

The Unix Technician will be a technical expert and provide 2nd and 3rd line-level support. They will assist in the day to day in managing Unix and Linux systems, supporting customers, fault finding and fault fixing. There will also be an aspect of project work, involving new VM builds, rollouts and customer site support.

  • BAU and Project support/delivery
  • Assist with escalated 3rd Line issues
  • Be a part of the on-call rota

 

Skills & experience required for the Unix Technician

  • Ideally you should be LPIC-1, AIX Systems Admin or a similar certification
  • Experience in working with AIX Unix and/or Linux
  • Experience with Ubuntu, RedHat, and CentOS
  • Ongoing support for the customer service team
  • Take part in internal and external project work
