A market leading Service Provider that delivers internet services and fibre across the UK is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join their Cheshire office in a hybrid manner.

Network Operations Engineer Role and Responsibilities

As the businesses newest Network Operations Engineer, you will be an integral part of the business. Your focus will be primarily to deliver operational management to a lively service desk and Network Operations team, whilst managing customer SLAs, with an understanding of ITIL. Ideally you will have a background in technical support and delivery to customers, while being a leader in the service provider environment.

As the Network Operations Engineer you will work as part of the support team. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting customer networks and core network infrastructure.
  • Acting as support for technical escalations: Troubleshooting and resolving 2nd/3rd line support escalations.
  • Automated and manual configurations on networks and configuration change requests.
  • Having the opportunity to work closely with customers; gaining valuable career experience in client management.
  • Being proactive in your approach to handling support cases.

 

Skills and Experience Required for the Network Operations Engineer:

  • 5 years’ experience working in an MSP or ISP environment.
  • Cisco WAN background, strong understanding of BGP and OSPF.
  • Have worked at 3rd line or above.
  • Have customer liaising experience.
  • Must be able to interphase with both technical and non-technical customers.
