About the 2nd Line Support Engineer role

The 2nd Line Support Engineer will be a key part of the Service team having a keen focus on customer support. You will report directly to the Line Manager, and be the focal point for any customer requirements. This will involve travelling to customer sites on occasion.

The role comes with hands-on experience on multiple technologies, will give you exposure to projects and opportunities to grow and develop your skills.

  • Your key focus is to provide support to act as the first response to escalations, as well as assisting the senior engineers.
  • Working with both technical and non-technical staff, you will be involved in supporting customers both remotely from the office or on the customer site.
  • You will respond to faults, and travel to sites to solve the issues at hand.

 

Skills & experience

As the 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will have a good understanding of supporting customers directly, be comfortable travelling to sites if required, have an eagerness to learn and a passion for technology.

  • You must have experience working in a Service Provider environment.
  • Must be comfortable liaising with customers.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Experience working with VMware and vSphere.
  • Cisco Routers, Switches and firewalls.
  • Must have UK driving licence.
  • Microsoft Suite including servers, desktop, exchange, emails.
  • Have a good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and network related issues.
  • Monitoring tool experience such as SolarWinds.
  • Data Backup Technologies.
